government assistance: I have been a disabled adult since 2004. I am on SSI, Medi-Cal, and Medicare.

I have been a disabled adult since 2004. I am on SSI, Medi-Cal, and Medicare. I started with $10,000 in savings. I'm down to $1,500. California keeps cutting our benefits.

I now have no dental or eyeglass coverage and I wear glasses. I guess California figures if you don't work you don't need to see properly, and as to dental, they figure we can eat oatmeal and baby food.

With today's rising prices, it's impossible to make ends meet. Things are only getting worse. The governor has threaten us with even more cuts.

I just don't know what to do. I am so desperate I can't sleep at night. The government just doesn't seem to care at all. I guess the government figures that since I'm disabled, I'm useless, I'm not worth bothering about. Right now I am not able to afford proper food. My daily diet is a bowl of oatmeal, an English muffin, and a frozen Banquet Dinner ($1.00 a piece).

It's not just food, it's everything. My landlord raises my rent EVERY year, gas is at nearly $4.50 a gallon, not that I really go anywhere, but it does add up. Prices are going up on everything.

There just HAS to be some options I haven't tried or don't know about. If I were just eight years older, I could get on some programs for seniors, but I'm still a little too young for them. What am I supposed to do in the meantime?

I can be reached at doctorwho92376@netzero.com - at least until I have to let my internet go because I can't afford to pay the monthly fee - which may be soon.

About RhapsodyInBlue

Hello there and thank you for writing. I am a 29 year old female who has been struggling with many things in my life. My health, as I have a chronic medical condition, is not the greatest. I have a job as a server in a restaurant and no matter how much I work and how hard I work I just can't seem to make ends meet. I have a vehicle that is leaking gas. It has been leaking for quite some time now and its not only not safe it is wasting gas. Gas is expensive as it is without having a leaky gas tank. I have repaired my car so many times just to keep it running so that I can get to and from work but it is on its last leg. I have been online trying to find any sort of government agency or company that can help me get into a different and very much safer car. I have hit brick wall after brick wall. I have emailed local companies without a response. I don't know what else to do. I also have been trying to sift through these links on this page in hopes to find something that might be able to help me. I live in the Detroit Metropolitan area Michigan. I see a lot of links related to health and dental which I will use definitely but being in this car is killing me. Without a car, I have no way to get to work and without work I'll be back in a shelter which I really don't want to go back to. I lived in a shelter for about a month back in 06 and I never want to go back to that.

What I am asking is if anyone out there knows of a company that can either help me or lead me in the right direction. I will be more than happy to donate my car in return there are many parts on it that can be used.

Thank You all for listening =) Take Care and God Bless.

my brother in law

My brother in law is fifteen years old, in eighth grade.  He just decided he was going to drop out, even though he legally can't until he's sixteen.  But he does what he wants.  His sister, my sister in law, lives in California.  She is married to a man who is in the United States Navy and lying in the hospital bed dying of cancer.  Their mother is trying to help, but running out of steam.  The family has no money, and my husband and I don't have enough to help.  Their father died tragically in Hurricane Andrew back in 1992.  We're not sure if my brother in laws bad behavior and lack of interest in life is a result of not growing up with a father figure, or just being angry, or...  we don't know why.  We are trying to help him now because it will only get worse in the future.  He has already been baker acted twice.  He runs away from home.  He hits his mom and sister.  And he does it all for attention.  Is there any government assistance for things like military school?  Or any other government assistance that can financially assist us in straightening this kid out so we can focus on getting his sisters husband healty?

Grandma going back to college

I am fifty one years old,  I have nine children, ten grandchildren,  the youngest of those nine is fifteen and still living at home (whom I have home schooled)..   Now I have two girls with their two children living with us again,  because they were in an abusive marriage. I suppose what I need is anyone who can direct me in the direction of any government assistance for them or for myself,  I am returning to school for nursing, I work only part time in a surgery center, and my husband is disabled,  so I am quite sure I would be eligible for government assistance to us.
